Worth the Wait

God, You are my God. I celebrate You. I praise You. You’ve done Your share of miracle-wonders, well-thought-out plans, solid and sure. The Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to me; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on me. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him. You will keep me in perfect peace because my mind is steadfast, because I put my trust in You. And though the Lord gives me the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet us teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore. But Your eyes shall see your teachers. Our ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” He will be the sure foundation for our times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Holy Spirit I am not very good at patience and waiting yet all through Your word which You breathed into existence through people willing to listen to You. You have said repeatedly to stand and wait. All things have a season and all of us must live life with anticipation of Your coming back to set the world right. Your word says, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. We live by faith, not by sight.” I realize that I will face tribulation in life because one: I live in a fallen world full of sin; and two: I will be tested and tempted so that I can demonstrate my faith, trust, love and hope in You and Your salvation. I put my faith in the fact that nothing is impossible for You.

Holy Spirit, I am not Job, Joseph or Daniel but like them I am a man who has purposed in his heart to serve You with all that I am. I will freely admit as Isaiah that Your thoughts are much higher than my thoughts. That I will not understand most things until I get to heaven, and You can explain them to me. I also know I live in a corrupt world with corrupt wisdom and that even my human body is subject to the decaying of this world. Help me to face my trials, walk through my fires, pray through my battles with giants and stand true to putting my faith in You. Let me draw my strength and wisdom from You.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons and daughters through Jesus, in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. In Jesus’ blessed name, amen.
