What Shall I Want

You, O Lord, are my shepherd; I shall not want. You make me lie down in green pastures; You lead me beside still waters and You restore my soul; You lead me in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Your house forever. [Psalm 23]

Holy Spirit, Your word says, “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. Truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me will do the works that I do also. And he will do greater works than these because I am going to My Father . I will do whatever you ask in My name, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” [Matthew 5:4, John 16:33; John 14:12-14]

Holy Spirit my heart still mourns the loss of Philip. I have faced much tribulation in the past two years and yet I stand firmly on the foundation that You are my God and that You love me and forgive me not only for my sins but when I have times of doubt and depression. Holy Spirit help me to die out to my own desires and be a true living sacrifice for You today and each day forward. Help me to constantly renew my mind by reading Your word, reading encouraging and wisdom from current Christian Authors, rejoice in worship, listen to the wisdom preached to me from pastors and speakers and to discern wisdom from each experience I have daily. Help me to walk as close to You as I can and to listen to Your voice and tune out the world and all the voices trying to distract me. What I want is to grow in wisdom, power, understanding and discernment so that I can not only face the world but demonstrate who You are within me. I want to pray with humility and authority that will bring unity among the brothers and sisters of Christ and cause change in the world around me. I want to pray with a faith that will see Your power manifested into miracles, wonders and signs. I want to pray in a way that people will know that You not only live in me but that I have kept this temple clean and useful for You. I want to have the courage to step out of the boat and trust fully in You to guide each of my steps. I want to have the faith and spiritual sight like Caleb and David to see beyond what is in front of me and know that not only will I have victory because of You but that I will grasp the promises You have made and live on the mountains that were taken from the giants of evil that stand in my way and try to defy You.

Holy Spirit help me to be become a better father, grandfather and husband to my family. Help me to become a listener and not a one who talks all the time. Help me to speak up when it is my turn in life to tell others about what You have done and are doing in my life. Let me continue to find comfort in Your word. Help my books to continue to sell so that the school and orphanage in Eswantini can get much needed money to help the children and workers there. Help me to sell books so that people can learn to pray Your word and promises back to You and join me in unity praying with a renewed faith.

Holy Spirit help me to continue to pray and encourage the pastors that I have been praying for the past few years. Help me to breathe in Your Spirit and breathe out Your Spirit onto them so that they can be empowered to serve You by feeding and leading Your sheep. Help me to pray in unity with others for You to go and move in their churches and cause great things to happen in their communities. Help me to lead in a way that will help each church become a house of prayer that prays for all the nations and sees Your mighty hand move.

Most of all, Holy Spirit I desire to see Jesus. I desire to hear the words, “well done my good and faithful servant.” I desire to see all the people I have known who have went to heaven before me. I desire to know that with all that I have, I have served You with all my heart, mind, talent and potential so that I can rest in You, knowing I did all I could to fulfill my purpose in life. Thank You for hearing my request, in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
