What is Right

Heavenly Father I praise You for the wisdom from the Holy Spirit and for the guidance of Your word. I praise You that I am a citizen of heaven and that all I need to do is be obedient to Your will. I praise You for making the guard rails for life simple to stay in the lane we are to walk even if we make the road difficult.

Holy Spirit Your word says: “There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.” [Proverbs 14:12] “For Your Wrath is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness of people who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth, since what can be known about You is evident among them, because You have shown it to them. For Your invisible attributes, that is, Your eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of this world, being understood through what You have made. As a result, people are without excuse. For though they knew You, they did not glorify You as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of Your Immortality for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles. Therefore You delivered them over in the desires of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.” [Romans 1:18-25; CSB]

Holy Spirit help me to be obedient to Your will, help me to abide by the principles laid out in Your word. Help me to not give in to the passions of sin. Help me to never cloud my thinking to justify sin or to make it seem okay to do. I know my job is not to judge others but to love on them and to show them You through my life. I also know I am to live in the world but not become part of it. Help me to constantly renew my mind so that I keep Your wisdom and not become blind by the world’s foolishness. I know what is sin for all of men and what is sin for me. Let me not go against Your will while I live and walk this earth. Help me to continually come to You like David and say: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak, and You are blameless when You judge. I was brought forth in my iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You make me to know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones that You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” [Psalm 51:1-17] Let me live with a broken and contrite heart so I may live for You. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
