Understanding Faith

Heavenly Father I praise You today for Christian Authors and Leaders who help us to learn how to navigate our Christian Walk in our current time while still relying on the wisdom and the knowledge of the Bible.  I praise You for people willing to be transparent and talk about their lives admitting their failures and how they worked through difficult times.  I praise You for testimonies of people who share how they had to trust in You because they had nothing else left for them if they were to still go on.  I praise You for the people in my life who modeled prayer as the first place to go when I faced trouble or dilemmas.

Holy Spirit help me to embrace God’s word recorded in 2 Corinthians 5:6 & 7, “We are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight.”  Also, in Hebrews 11:1-3, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the men of old obtained a good report. By faith we understand the universe was framed by the word of God, so that things that are seen were not made out of things which are visible.”  My faith rests and is anchored in to very deep truths to me, I believe Christ died and rose again to offer me salvation and eternal life and the second anchoring for me is that Christ through the Holy Spirit allows me to ask honest questions to be a personable God to me even if I don’t always like the answers or have to wait for the answers when I get to heaven.  I know I live in a broken sinful world full of pain, despair, heartache and death, None of us can escape this.  My hope lies within the deep desire to one day see Jesus.  My confidence is in the reliable word of God and those who went before me who have suffered all things as I have.  I know that my God is personable enough to allow me to question, struggle, seek my faith as I go along and face all that comes in my life.  I know the Holy Spirit is there to comfort me and allow me to grieve, despair and even get mad at times.  God is big enough to allow me to work through all things and to continue to put my trust in Him.  I will let the Lord direct my heart into the His love and into the patience of Christ and I will follow Jesus’s example and pray at all times so that I can draw near and put all my trust in Him.  Thank You for being a God who cares about all my small and big concerns and hurts as well as my trust in You.  Amen.
