Putting the Mantle on the Next Generation

Heavenly Father I praise You for my heritage and for 40 years of companionship with the Holy Spirit since my day of rebirth when I accepted salvation. I praise You for showing me often Your mercy and Your grace. I praise You for the children that You allowed my wife and I to raise. I praise You now for the blessing of grandchildren.

Holy Spirit I ask that You would watch over and fill my son Joe with Your Spirit as he prepares for Sunday morning service. I pray that the mantle from his great grandfather, his grandfather and many uncles, great uncles that were or are pastors for you falls on Joe as he speaks and as he leads the Youth at Millington Church of God and Youth For Christ. I pray that You will honor his heritage and allow him to speak Your truth with passion, wisdom and boldness. Guide his tongue and his mind as he speaks.

Holy Spirit I continue to lift up Kayla as she continues to make progress through the clinic she is finally going to that is treating all her illnesses. Continue to lift her spirits and continue to make her bold as she testifies of Your love, healing and forgiveness. She has a story to tell the world and so far she has been transparent.

Holy Spirit I pray for all the new leaders, young adults who are now stepping into roles as Youth Leaders, Pastors, Missionaries and other ministries. I pray You will bring mentors into their lives and the You will make them bold to a world which needs to see boldness in a new way. Paul told Timothy and I think it applies to all these new and young adults stepping up. “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.” [1 Tim. 4:12]

But you, man [or woman] of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. 1Timothy 6:11-16 mantlle
