Heavenly Father I praise You for Your word and for the testimonies of people who lived before me. I praise You for the salvation that You offered to me through the death and resurrection of Christ. I praise You for the foundation of what we now know as the church started by the twelve disciples that Christ picked to walk with Him through His ministry and to lead after He ascended into heaven.
Holy Spirit help me today to not only appreciate Peter’s testimony and life as a disciple but to make this my starting point, for he was designated as the rock on which the church would be built. Help me to be as bold as Peter when he stepped out of the boat and started walking to Jesus on the water. Help me to be as humble as Peter when he finally accepted that Christ would wash his feet. Help me to be strong in adversity, as Peter was when he was jailed by Herod and then the angel of the Lord came and freed him. Let me be as bold as Peter to stand and proclaim the death and resurrection of Christ and the salvation offered us freely if
we only ask for forgiveness and follow You. Help me to be filled with Your Spirit and be bold when needed and discerning like when Peter and John told the cripple that they had no gold but with the power of Christ to get and walk. Let me step out of my comfort zone like Peter did when he went to a gentile home and brought the good news and baptized the whole family as he led them to become Christ followers and filled with Your Spirit.
The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:10-15&18
