My Spiritual Armor of Taking Up My Shield of Faith

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgives all my iniquities, who heals all my diseases. [Psalms 103:1-3] Glory to God in the highest and may His name always receive praise from my lips and from the temple of my heart, where I gladly offer my life as a living sacrifice to His will. Help me to take command of this day so that I shake all the evil from it.

Your word tells me: and above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one. [Ephesians 6:16] My faith is hardened by my meditation and understanding of Your word, I grip it with wisdom and knowledge, and it resonates as my protection by the discernment of my spirit with Your Holy Spirit. I use Your word as Jesus did when Satan tried to tempt him after fasting. Your word hid in my heart, etched on my mind’s memory, and the understanding of the wisdom from Your word helps me shield myself from lies, half-truths, gossip, and any evil spoken against me for my

faith in Jesus Christ. Let me use this shield that was forged by the fire of trials and temptations and plated with the salvation of the blood of Christ to protect me as I pray for salvation for my family, community, and those lost around me. Let me use this shield to protect my concepts and understanding of who Christ is and the Holy Spirit that is within me.

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen me with power through His Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
