Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my meditation. Listen to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You will I pray. O Lord, in the morning You will hear my voice; in the morning I will direct my prayer to You, and I will watch expectantly. For You are not a God who has pleasure in wickedness, nor will evil dwell with You. Those who boast will not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. You will destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. But as for me, in the abundance of Your mercy I will enter Your house; in fear of You I will worship at Your holy temple….But may all those who seek refuge in Your rejoice; may they ever shout for joy, because You defend them; may those who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, Lord, will bless the righteous; You surround him with favor like a shield. [Psalm 5:1-7, 11-12]
Holy Spirit I struggle at times to have focus to meditate on Your word. I ask for patience and for wisdom so that I can truly delve into Your word and learn more of who You are and how to live a life pleasing to You. I pray You teach me to be stronger in praying Your promises so that I can see prayers that match Your heart and accomplish something here on this earth while I breathe and walk on it. Prepare my heart for when I go home but help me to live in the now also. Help me to live a life that will bless my wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Help me to better at encouraging others and to demonstrate understanding and compassion. Let me be the shining star that adds to many other stars to create a light for travelers to find You. Let me be less and You be more. Help me to never step in front of what You are doing so that Your glory may be seen.
Let me stand firmly on the rock of my faith so that my temple is solid and will be a haven for others to learn of You. Let me pray with faith, conviction and trust that You are the God who can accomplish what we think to be the impossible. Let me pray in a way that others will unite with me and pray so that there is a unity in our prayers for Your ears to hear and for You to know we join together to serve You and to bring Your kingdom here among the people around us.
Help me to pray in the morning with expectation. Help me to pray in the noon time feeding of Your word and wisdom. Let me pray at night to watch over all the day has brought forward and that the enemy will not be able to have any way to attack it. Let me pray as I go to sleep for protection of my thoughts, dreams and my love ones. Help me to pray with a broader perspective such as the battle going on in the Ukraine or the political divisions that are destroying my own country. Help me to pray that we return to the simple truth: mercy, love, forgiveness, honesty and boldness to declare who’s child I am. In all that I face each day I say through Jesus Christ our redeemer and the Holy Spirit sent to walk with us, Your will be done in the Father, Amen.
