Heavenly Father I praise You today for the love and trust You place in us. I praise You for sending the Holy Spirit into our lives after Christ left this earth. I praise You for teaching me Your word and helping me to understand and apply it in my life.
Holy Spirit I now understand that when I accepted the gift of salvation I became Your temple like so many other believers. Instead of the Old Testament way of life where Your Spirit was residing in the Holy of Holies, You now reside in each of us who have committed our lives to You. I have learned as You taught Zerubbabel, not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. (Zech. 4:6) Help me to breathe in Your word, wisdom and Spirit daily so that I can breathe out truth to all that I come in contact with. Christ says, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit which has now come since Christ’s departure from this earth in human form. (John 7:37-39) Let come out of my mouth the Spirit which flows in my heart. Help me to meditate and pray scripture so that I claim to do as God said in Isaiah “so is my word that goes out of my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” (Isa. 55:11&12) Help me to accomplish what You desire and achieve Your purpose by speaking, praying and meditating on Your word.
Holy Spirit lead me to live humbly dividing the word not for knowledge and pride’s sake but so that I can be immersed in the wisdom and Spirit from learning to trust in a God who stands by His word. Teach me to let the Holy Spirit speak through me and for me. Help my words to be what You desire for You know each person’s heart and You know what they need to hear. Let me be humble enough to realize that through my own wisdom and understanding I fall so far short of Your Spirit. Teach me to listen to Your voice, to act upon Your will, and to completely surrender my abilities and talents to Your use and to the way You want to use them. Help me to learn to pray with authority to see as Mark tells us: Mark 16:15-18(NIV)—He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in a new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. Mark 16:20—Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. Let this be so in me and in this time. Help me to believe in a God that nothing is impossible for him. You told us, and I believe Your word to be true: John 14:12-14—“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. 1 John 3:18&19—My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but indeed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 1 John 3:21-22—If our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. 1 John 4:16-18—And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. Teach me to not only to know this love but to show this love so others can learn not to fear anymore. Help me to pray in a way that Your Spirit will help me and others demonstrate this love, power, and salvation so that we can see the world around us shaken and changed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
