Heavenly Father, I praise You, helping me to do prayers, to teach prayers, and to teach through prayers. I praise You for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to open my heart and mind to pray bigger, better, and with focus. I praise You for being a God who listens, knows my heart, and gives me strength.
Holy Spirit, I desire to have the boldness, faith, and courage of Caleb. I want to see the world the way he saw it, one of opportunity and wonder with a mighty God. When Moses sent Caleb, Joshua, and ten others to spy the land of Canaan that was promised to the Israelites, ten of the spies cried that it could not be done because they were afraid and only thought of their own human strength. Caleb stood before the people and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the others convinced the people it could not be done, and so they did not go in. Joshua and Caleb tore their clothes, and they spoke: The land we passed through to spy out is exceedingly good. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give us a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the lord, nor fear people of the land, for they are of bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.” But the people were so afraid that they wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb. So, God cursed all those who were afraid and decreed that they would die and never set foot into the promised land. Because of Joshua and Caleb’s faithfulness, they would live and enter with the next generation. When Joshua and Caleb finally entered the promised land, they were 80 years or more of age. God honored Caleb for his faithfulness and for standing before the people and witnessing what God could do, so Caleb would go in and clear the giants off the land he was promised, and he would take Hebron as his inheritance.
I desire to have a different spirit within me that sees the possibilities that God can do, not what is impossible to me. I want the courage to stand and witness to God and His power when all the people around me reject God. Give me this kind of courage and faith. Help me to see what is promised throughout Your word and claim it as mine because I believe nothing is impossible for my God, whom I serve and have gained my salvation from. Hebron would become the area where the city of Jerusalem now stands. Because of the faith and courage of Caleb, Israel would later make its kingdom and temple on the land Caleb inherited for his faithfulness. Let me have a legacy that others who come after me can build upon what I had faith to start. In Jesus name, amen.
