Learning to Serve then Lead like Joshua

Character Series of Prayers

Heavenly Father, I praise You for continuing to open my heart and mind to see the testimonies of the people in the Bible. I praise You for giving us Your word to learn, grow in wisdom, and to see Your hand in this world. I praise You for allowing us to see people who stepped up to be faithful, but by no means were they perfect or without failures. Bless this prayer as I learn to emulate Joshua’s good points.

Holy Spirit, help me to grow from the wisdom I have learned from the testimony of the life of Joshua. He was a faithful servant who came out of Egypt and stood by as a protective general for Moses. When it came time for Moses to pass the leadership baton, You chose Joshua to lead Your people into the promised land. Joshua had stood beside and for Moses through some very hard times. He stood with Caleb against the people who feared the giants of the promised land. He would be the man who would cross the waters into the promised land and conquer most of it. He would start the ownership of Israel that would later grow into a kingdom.

Joshua would tell the people: Joshua 24:15—And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. No matter how far the world around me pulls away from God, I will serve You with all my heart, mind, soul, and spirit. Help me to stand as Joshua did and be counted faithful. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
