Battles I Face

Heavenly Father, I praise You for how You created me and for instilling in me a desire to stand against evil. I praise You for teaching me over the years where the real battles are and giving me some of the tools to fight those battles. I praise You for the free will that has allowed me to choose and follow what I truly believe in. Help me today to take command of my day and to keep captive my thoughts, bridle my tongue so that I can shake the evil from day and learn to only speak life into people for Your kingdom.

Holy Spirit Your word says, “For though I walk in the flesh, I do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of my warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” “I am to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I need to put on the whole armor of God daily so that I may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For my fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. I will take up the whole armor of God so that I may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” [2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 6:10-13]

Holy Spirit, I use wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to help me avoid evil and ignorance. I use discernment and Your Holy Spirit to light my path so that I walk uprightly and in the direction I am supposed to go. I take into captivity my thoughts captive so that I am focused on You and Your will in my life. I stand firmly in my hope [faith] as Peter instructed, and I am always ready to give an answer to my hope. I know that as long as I live here on the earth in this corrupt body, I will bear scars and fight against the weakness of man since Adam of pride, ignorance, and thinking I know more than God. These are the lies of Satan. I will also battle apathy and weariness because of the vastness of sin and corruption around me. But I must and will do my best to be a light, just like each star gives light in the skies. By myself, that light is small, but joined with fellow believers, we point the way to Christ just as constellations point the way for sailors and weary travelers at nighttime. I will do my best to meditate on Your word instead of letting thoughts of doubt, fear, and wrong imaginations flood my mind. I will constantly work at renewing my mind so that I am clear and focused on God and His kingdom, not my existence separate from Him.

Grace and peace will come to me from God my Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for my sins to rescue me from the present evil age, according to the will of my God and Father, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. And this is my prayer: let my love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that I may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Amen. [Galatians 1:3-5; Philippians 1:9-11]
