What Are You Measuring

Heavenly Father I praise You for Your word, especially the first four gospels of the New Testament. I praise You for the accounts of Your Son and the different perspectives it gives us on how to worship, serve and communicate with You. I praise You for the day of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit being in my life.

Holy Spirit Your word says: “But when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, ‘It is a spirit.’ And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them saying, ‘Be of good cheer. It is I. Do not be afraid.’ Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord if it is You, bid me come to You on the water.’ He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter got out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt? And when they got in the boat the wind ceased.” “Jesus rebuked the demon, and he came out of him. And the child was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘Why could we not cast out him out?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief. For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. And nothing will be impossible for you. But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” [Matthew 14:26-32; Matthew 17:18-21]

Holy Spirit help me not to measure my faith by the problem, mountain, giant, or temptation I face, but take measure of my trust, faith, and belief in what God can do through me when I am serving within His will. You tell us in Your word that nothing is impossible for You. You also tell us to pray fervently and to continue to humble ourselves and forgive all people. Let my prayers reflect my trust and faith in You. Help my faith to grow like a mustard seed does when it dies out to itself and grows into a tree. Let me do as Paul told us to do and become a living sacrifice every day, dying out to my will, my desires, my pride, and be fully committed to You so I can know Your good and perfect will. Help me to daily renew my mind, by reading Your word, listening to Your Spirit, worshipping in praise and song, and reading materials that will give me wisdom on how to serve You fully.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. But you, man [or woman] of God, flee from all this and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. [Philippians 1:9-11; 1Timothy 6:11-16]
