A Walk OFF Home Run

Heavenly Father You said in Your word, “I am the Lord God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy.” [Leviticus11:44] And Peter wrote: “But as He who called you is Holy you also be holy in your conduct.” [1 Peter 1:15] I praise You for allowing us to strive to be holy as You are holy. As Your child, I seek to be holy and faithful.

Holy Spirit Your word says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it, men of old obtained a good report. By faith, we understand that the universe was framed by the word of God so that things that are seen were not made out of things which are visible.” [Hebrews 11:1-3] I seek to have a faith that will help me dream dreams of importance, that I will see victory when others see defeat, that I will fast instead of indulge in impure food, thoughts, and actions. I seek a faith that will start small like being responsible for sheep, then face the lion, the bear, and then face the giants. I seek a faith that will give me the confidence to stand for God knowing He can save me, but even if He chooses not to, I will still believe and trust Him. I want a faith that when I fast, signs, wonders, and miracles will occur. I want faith that when I pray for healing for people like Jim and Kayla, I will know that You can and will heal them on Your timetable. I want a faith that will allow me to speak boldly to people like Paul.

Holy Spirit most of all I want to have a faith like Enoch. He was the first to have a walk-off home run. It says in Your word: “Enoch, the seventh generation from Adam, also prophesied of these men, saying, ‘Look! The Lord is coming with ten thousand of His Holy ones, to execute judgment on everyone, and to convict all who are godless of all their wicked deeds that they have committed, and of all the terrible words that godless sinners have spoken against Him.’ These men are grumblers, complainers, who walk after their own lusts. Their mouths speak arrogant words, and they flatter others to gain profit.” [Jude 14-16] “By faith, Enoch was taken to heaven so that he would not see death. He was not found, because God took him away. For before he was taken, he had this commendation, that he pleased God. And without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” [Hebrews 11:5&6] Let me have a faith that is pleasing to You.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
