What am I Hearing

Heavenly Father I praise You today for all You have provided and how You take care of me and my needs, not necessarily my wants. I praise You for helping me walk through the valley and stand by me on the mountains. I praise You for giving me the command of my morning. I praise You for all You have done in my life so far and I look forward to seeing what is next.

Holy Spirit Your word says: My dear friends, don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God. There are a lot of lying preachers loose in the world. Here’s how you test for the genuine Spirit of God—the Son of God, who came as an actual flesh-and-blood person—that comes from God and belongs to God. And everyone who refuses to confess faith in Jesus has nothing in common with God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that you heard was coming. Well, here it is, sooner than we thought! My dear children, you come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for the Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world. These people belong to the Christ-denying world. They talk the world’s language and the world eats it up. But we come from God and belong to God. Anyone who knows God understands us and listens. The person who has nothing to do with God will, of course, not listen to us. This is another test for telling the Spirit of Truth from the spirit of deception. [1John 4:1-6, the Message Version]

Holy Spirit help me to not be deceived by what I hear. Help me to be so in tune with Your voice, Your Spirit, that I only respond, think and do what You say to do. Give me wisdom, understanding, and discernment so that my ears can block out the world’s voice and focus on Yours. Let my words, my actions, and my thoughts be of truth and demonstrate Your truth.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. And these virtues help us put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
