Trying to Overcome

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that
sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen
like one being instructed. The sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been
rebellious; I have not turned away.

Holy Spirit, Christ gave instruction through John to the seven churches and in that
instruction, he gave us some key wisdom to know about being an overcomer. “To
him who overcomes I will give permission to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. To him who overcomes I will give the hidden manna to eat. I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows except he who receives it. To him who overcomes and keeps My works to the end, I will give authority over the nations even as I myself have received authority
from My Father. And I will give him the morning star. He who overcomes shall be
clothed in white garments. I will not blot his name out of the Book of Life,
but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. He who
overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no
more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My
God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of the heaven from My God, and My
own new name. To him who overcomes will I grant to sit with Me on My throne, as
I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” “I have told you
these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have
tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”

Holy Spirit help me become an overcomer by following the words of Paul to the
Philippians when he said, “Not that I have already attained or have already
been perfected, but I follow after it so that I may lay hold of that for which
I was seized by Christ Jesus. Brothers (and Sisters0 I do not count myself to
have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are
behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the
goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Therefor let
those of us who are mature be thus minded. And if you think differently in any
way, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, according to what we have
already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
Becoming imitators (of Christ) walking according to His example. For our
citizenship is in heaven, from where also we await for our Savior, the Lord
Jesus Christ, who will transform our body of humiliation, so that it may be
conformed to His glorious body, according to the working of His power even to
subdue all things to Himself.” Teach me to make this the goal of my life. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.
