Trying to Carry the Torch

Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your word, for it shows me how to live. I praise You for the ability to learn, grow, and act upon Your word. I praise You today for being my God and for how much You desire to have a relationship with me. Help me today to take command of my day and shake the evil from it, and walk with integrity and truth.

Holy Spirit, I desire to live my life built on the foundation of the people of faith who lived before me. I desire to have boldness and focus like the faith of Caleb. I want to be courageous and steadfast as Joshua. I want to be faithful and honorable as Ruth, Jonathan, and Elisha were. I want a faith that is willing to take on giants like David, jump out of the boat like Peter, and stand before leaders and honestly tell of my faith like Paul. I want to stand before the undecided and faithfully demonstrate who You really are, like Elijah. I want faith that overcomes like Joseph. I want to be wise and eloquent as Daniel and to pray until Angels show up to explain to me God’s will and direction. I want to be able to face adversity knowing You can save but may choose not to as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I want to search and find the King of Kings as the Magi did. I want to be found faithful like Mary. Industrious like Lydia and willing to listen, serve, and believe like Lazarus, Martha, and Mariam.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain! So God granted him what he requested. May it be so for me also. Amen. 1Chronicles 4:9&10
