Truth Is What I seek

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.  He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayers. [Psalms 100, Psalms 102:17]

Holy Spirit Christ said, “If you remain in My word, then you are truly My disciples. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” [John 8:32; 14: 6] I have for many years learned to read God’s word but I often struggle with the wisdom presented to me, to interpret it in a way that I can apply it to my life.  I ask for wisdom to help me better understand and to truly grasp the concepts, meanings and nuances of what I read so that I can present truth throughout my life.

I also take to heart when Christ said, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;  for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak.  And He will tell you things to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine.  Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”  [John 16:12-15]  Holy Spirit I desire to hear from You what Christ wants me to know and what he wants me to do in my life right now.  I ask that You continue to prompt and speak to me of all the truth I am to know.  Help me to remember Paul’s words to Timothy when he said, “you know how you should conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.” [1 Tim. 3:15]

Holy Spirit let my conduct and my words reflect the truth that is within me so that others may learn who You are and receive not only salvation but the Spirit of Truth in them so they can hear from You also.  Many in this world scoff today that we can’t truly hear You.  Help us to stand true and listen to Your voice, listen to Your promptings and find You in Your word as well as in our lives.

Finally, Holy Spirit help me to live up to Christ’s expectations when he said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:12-14] Let me ask what God desires so that I fulfill my purpose in life and feel content with who I am in Christ.  Amen.
