Heavenly Father, I praise You for today for creating me to be a husband, father, and grandfather. For teaching me to pray for my family and for their salvation. I praise You for all the lessons I have learned and yet to learn as I fulfill the responsibility that You have bestowed on me. Help me to teach my family salvation, wisdom, and faith. Let me live a life that will reflect You.
Holy Spirit, help me to be like Rahab and protect my family and have them on the right side with You. Help me to be wise and serve You, whether in secret or openly. Allow me to stand so my family can live and become productive members in Your family. Help me to daily pray over my family and not only garner its protection but to pray for salvation and growth that will be important in Your kingdom. Rahab, because of her persistence, would become part of the lineage of Christ. She and Ruth are mentioned in the New Testament when telling of the lineage of Christ, which was not the usual Jewish tradition of the time but was inspired by Your Spirit to mark the significance they played in the human heritage of Christ and to show how You are not only in control, but You use faithful people. Let me be as faithful.
Let me continually offer the sacrifice of praise to You, oh God, that is, the fruit of my lips, giving thanks to Your name. Help me to not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices, You are well pleased. I will do my best to obey those who rule over me and be submissive, for they watch out for my soul, and they will give an account for how they lead. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for me. For I am confident that I have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. But I especially am urged to do this. Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make me complete in every good work to do His will, working in me what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13:14-21)
