Searching for Peace by Serving

Our Father, which are in heaven, You are worthy of our praise. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! Praise Him all His Angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. [Psalms 145:13; Psalms 145:18; Psalm 147:11; Psalms 148:1&2]

Holy Spirit, You inspired Isaiah to write that You will keep me in perfect peace, as long as I can keep my mind staying focused on You because that demonstrates that I trust in You which is the beginning of my faith. [Isaiah 26:3] Paul said, the Spirit helps us in our weakness and will intercede for us when we are so depressed, confused, or loss for words and will utter groans that words cannot express. [Romans 8:26] I often find myself without words to say what I want to say.

Holy Spirit I know that I am daily fighting against sin, Paul calls it our flesh, and modern preachers will say it is our nature nurtured by a sinful world. I know that I must come before the throne of Jesus as David told us to do in Psalms and ask to be cleaned with a hyssop so that I can testify of Your love and forgiveness. Without You, I am a wretched person. With You, I am a person who bears witness to Your light, love, perfection, and righteousness. I renew my mind daily so that I let nothing interrupt my thoughts and focus on being a living sacrifice to You. Guide my eyes to see the world the way You do not the way the world desires to see. Guide my mind to focus on Your desires and will instead of my selfishness. Guide my heart to crave righteousness and heaven as my home instead of settling for material things. Guide my hands, feet, and back to go to, do, and carry out Your will in action instead of standing still and doing nothing that builds Your kingdom.

Continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven. My purpose is that others may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so no one may deceive you with fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen. [Colossians 1:23; Colossians 2:2-7]
