Heavenly Father I praise You for teaching me to stay humble and realize I only have control over my own attitude. I praise You for Your word which is usually the only defense I have in life besides Your Holy Spirit. I praise You for the example set by Christ when Satan tried to tempt him.
I understand that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. [2Timothy 3:16&17] Help me to use this scripture to defend myself against temptation, wrong desires and to challenge me to be a doer. Remind me there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. [Romans 8:1&2] For as I am led by the Spirit of God, I am an adopted child of God. 15 For I did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but I have received the Spirit of adoption by which I cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of God, 17 and if child, then an heir—heir of God and joint heir with Christ, if indeed I suffer with Him, that I may also be glorified together with Him and other brothers and sisters in Christ. [Romans 8:14-17]
Therefore, in view of God’s mercy, I offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is my spiritual act of worship. I will not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind by meditating on Your word. Then I will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. [Romans 12:1&2] For as Christ told Satan and was recorded in Matthew 4 “it is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It is also written that I should not tempt the Lord my God, and I shall worship the Lord my God, and Him only will I serve. So, get away from here Satan.” Help me to stand upon and behind God’s word to correct and renew my mind, thoughts and desires. Help me to defend myself with the Holy Spirit giving me wisdom of what to focus on and to say when speaking is necessary.
I am blessed because I walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the path of sinners or sit in the seat with scoffers. My delight is in God’s word and principals which I meditate on day and night. I will learn to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which brings forth its fruit in its season and its leaf will not wither, and what I do for the Lord will prosper. [Psalm 1:1-3] In Jesus’ name, amen.
