Running my Race with Faith

God, You give endurance and encouragement, give us the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice we may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us to accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted us, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and that moreover, that all people might glorify God for His mercy. (Romans 15:5-9)

Holy Spirit I understand that by faith the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. I know that my faith is the confidence in what I hope for and the assurance about what I do not see. I know that the people of faith in that is recorded in the Bible were commended for this, I wish to be also. (Hebrews 11:1-3)  I am beginning to understand that I am surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, so I need to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles me. I need to run this race of life with perseverance which is marked out for me, fixing my eyes on Jesus only, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith.  For the joy set before Jesus, He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. I will consider what Jesus endured by such opposition from sinners like me, so that I will not grow weary and lose heart. (Heb.12:1-3)

Holy Spirit I will make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness I cannot see You.  Help me  not to fall short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile me. (Heb. 12:14&15)  Holy Spirit lead each step I take and breathe into every word that comes from my mouth so that I am completely submerged in the will of God.  Let me be the vessel You use today to be an example to all I come in contact with. Direct my heart into Your love and show me how to be patient like Christ.  In Jesus’s name, Amen.
