Right and Wrong time to Pray

Heavenly Father I praise You this morning and all of today for Your mercy, forgiveness, understanding, grace, and that You desire to have a relationship with me. I praise You that I was not some random circumstance but created with a purpose and that You specifically designed me so that I would have a unique place in Your kingdom.

Holy Spirit I have learned that there is a right and wrong time to pray. In 1 Samual chapter 14, I read how Jonathan did what you prompted him to do, when Saul realized what was happening he called for the Ark of the Covenant up because he was going to pray but then when he heard the battle he realized it was past the time of praying and time to be doing so he sent the Ark back while he went forward into battle. When God prompts us to do something and it is clear that is what He wants us to do, it is not time to check in prayer. It is time to be a doer of God. Yes, we can talk to God while we are doing but not delay to pray. Holy Spirit continue to teach me to pray unceasingly and be able to do it unceasingly when asked to. I have been trained in Your word and ways since I was a small child. You have given me wisdom and knowledge to the point I should know when to act without waiting to stop and pray when opportunities present themselves. I continually pray to be prepared but I also need to go ahead and respond when You open the door for me. Help me to lean onto Your word as my foundation for knowledge and wisdom with Your inspiration to help me discern the situation and what is needed at the time. Let me stay open to an honest dialogue with You throughout my day so that I can rest assured I am doing Your will. Help me to understand that if I am truly a living sacrifice I am truly “living” each moment of my day grounded in Your perfect will and desires. Help me to know when I should be consulting and when I should be just doing. Isn’t this why we have faith and must grow and mature in our relationship with You?

The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless, according to His promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:10-15&18
