Praying for the Next Generations

I will praise You. I will sing to You a new song, I know how to praise You in the assembly of Your faithful people. They will praise Your name with dancing and music played on various instruments. For You take delight in Your people; You crown the humble with victory. We, Your faithful people rejoice in this honor and we sing for joy even on our beds. (Psa. 149:1-5)

Holy Spirit I ask that You would watch over all the teachers, principals, bus drivers, janitors, building maintenance, coaches, school boards, superintendents, and most of all students in the schools today.  Whether they are in school or in virtue classrooms help learning to continue.  Remove fear, hopelessness, boredom, and anxiety from all of them and add to them wisdom, knowledge, and joy.  Help these schools and their curriculums inspire students to become independent thinkers so that they can grow to learn who You are.  Help their parents to set an example of being Christ like in front of them.  Protect this next generation and help them not to lose the wonder of growing up.

Holy Spirit help me and others like me to be able to communicate to the generations below me.  Help me to find ways to present Christ that will challenge their minds, hearts, spirit and souls.  Help me to see their world from their eyes so that I can have a better understanding on how to demonstrate who You are.  Help me to always lift them up with prayer.  Help me to never judge them or to give up on them.  Help me to find ways to help them to communicate better and to not let the world push them to extremes.  Help me to demonstrate a life of peace, patience, and hard work.  Let me be honest but to be able to be heard by them.  Let me learn to communicate in their new media blitzed world.  Help me to support and encourage all that I can.

Holy Spirit help leaders who are working with teens and trying to do outreach like Alyssa and Joe.  Help groups like Youth for Christ to be able to get back to reaching teens and giving them support.  Help independent small groups sprout up and be on fire for Christ among the older teens, young adults, and recently married adults. We praise You for helping bring leaders of their own ages forward to help in this task but we pray for more harvesters, because the need is so great.

I pray for you, and ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.  He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.  All things were created through Him for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:9-18) In Jesus’ name, amen.
