Heavenly Father, I praise You for today. I praise You for not giving up on me. I praise You for being a God who knows my heart and my thoughts. I praise You for being a forgiving and patient God.
Holy Spirit, the Disciple Thomas is often labeled “Doubting Thomas,” but that is too easy an analysis. Thomas is like so many people today who have lived life with average or above I.Q. that face life every day and plod along. Thomas was also inquisitive, supportive, and an encourager to others in the ministry. We forget that right after the death on the cross, the disciples had not received the Holy Spirit yet, so they were very limited in what they could see spiritually. The others had witnessed the resurrected Christ in person, so of course they did not doubt. Thomas, like us, had to learn to believe. Yes, Christ appeared to him to vanquish his doubts, and most of us do not get that luxury, but we also have the availability of the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and eyes. Help me to live Jesus well enough that Your Spirit can open their eyes to who You are and vanquish their doubts. I know I am not perfect and that I may not be the best example to others, but let me live as You desire so I can be usable for Your message to reach unbelievers.
Help me to be the living sacrifice needed for Your righteousness to shine through my life to help others see You, not me. Thank You for being my Savior, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
