One Great Enemy is Apathy

Heavenly Father, I praise You for placing within my heart the passion to know You. I feel the fire of Your Holy Spirit within me to know, understand, obey, and discern Your will daily. I praise You for keeping me learning, growing, and facing trials and tribulations with a great dependence upon You as my Savior. You have made me strong, and I stand and weather all the storms that come my way, but I also realize that You are my strength, foundation, and mighty fortress to which I can stand boldly and be victorious. Help me to take command of my day and shake the evil from it.

Holy Spirit, You inspired the prophet Zephaniah to write, “And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men. Who are ‘settled’ in complacency, Who say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, Nor will He do evil.” You also inspired John to write, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, I am rich, have become wealthy, and need nothing, and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked—I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich;…As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.” You inspired Jude to write, “But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their ungodly lusts. These are sensual people who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” [Zephaniah 1:12; Revelations 3:15-19; Jude 17-21] Help me and my community and church never to let this apathy or lack of passion to obey You invade my or our hearts. Let us be bold in our faith, zealous in our prayers, and strong in our willingness to obey You and do Your will while we walk this earth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
