Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your word and for the wisdom, knowledge, and discernment that it supplies to my understanding and teaches me how to live. I praise You for the testimonies of those whom You record in Your word, that teaches me faith and how to live that faith. I praise You for the testimonies of people I have known that have served You and were my examples of how to have faith and how to live like You.
“Now God spoke all these words, saying: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me.” [Exodus 20:1-3] I know that I live many thousands of years since then, but I also know that through the death and resurrection of Christ and my acceptance of the gift of salvation and believing in and on Christ, I have been removed from the bondage of sin. I try to live daily as Paul so eloquently wrote: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. [Romans 12:1&2] Help me to renew my mind constantly with the wisdom, truth, and glory of God so I can truly die out to self and be that living sacrifice that shows my love of my God and glorifies His name daily out of the blessings He has blessed my life with.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
