Heavenly Father, I praise You for salvation, for the cross, the resurrection, the Ascension, and the day of Pentecost. I praise You for the hope You have instilled in my heart since the day I accepted You as Lord and Savior. I praise You for placing within me a ministry of prayer and giving me the talents of learning, speaking, and leading. Help me today to take command of my day so I can shake the evil from it, as You so clearly pointed out to Job the need to do so.
You said through Paul to take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. [Ephesians 6:17] Christ told us: “Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. [Matthew 22:37(CSB)] My heart and soul are guarded by the breastplate of righteousness, and now if I wear my helmet correctly, my mind is also protected. Paul also told us: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. [Romans 12:2] My helmet, along with my breastplate and shield, signifies that I am in Your army. My helmet is to protect assault to my brain and my mind from assault. Within that helmet, I record memories of all the tests and trials I have faced, and You have defeated or saved me from them, or taught me to continue living with hope. I have memories that literally etch a synopsis of chemicals to store my knowledge of Your word, the meaning, and how to apply it to my life. My mind is also where I have the ability to have the concepts to accept a God I have never seen. I can reason through Your word and gain wisdom in how to live and to walk properly. My mind controls both my physical and spiritual body and makes sure that it is fed, exercised, and in good health. The helmet of salvation provides not only my protection but stamps me with the signature of God who lives within my heart. Help me keep my helmet secure and strong.
Therefore, let me not sleep as others do. But let me be alert and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But let me, who is of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love,
and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not appointed me to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for me, so that whether I am awake or asleep, I will live together with Him. So, I will comfort myself and edify my brothers and sisters. I will acknowledge those who labor around me, and/or are appointed over me in the Lord, and instruct me. I will esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among the members of the body of Christ. I have been exhorted to warn those who are unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, and be patient toward everyone. I will not render evil for evil to anyone. But always seek to do good to others. I will rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning me. I will not quench the Spirit. Nor will I despise prophecies. I will examine all things. Firmly hold onto what is good. Abstain from all appearances of evil. May the very God of peace sanctify me completely. And I pray to God that my whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ. For I know that faithful is He who calls me, for He also will do it. Amen. 1 Thessalonians 5:6-24
