Learning to Rejoice

Heavenly Father, I praise You today for my salvation and for Your forgiveness. I continue to strive to put off the old man and put on the clothes of righteousness. I know this does not make me perfect or higher than anyone else; it just means I am striving to serve You with all my heart, mind, soul, and body. Help me today to take command of my day and shake all the evil from it so that I can not sin against You today.

Holy Spirit, I realize that I need to follow Your word when it says, 'Rejoice in the Lord always.' Again, I will say, rejoice! Let my gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. I need to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let my requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—I will learn to meditate on these things. [Philippians 4:4-8]

And this is my prayer: let my love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that I may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Amen. Philippians 1:9-11
