Learning From the Christmas Story

Heavenly Father, I praise You and give You glory for You are my God and a God who listens, cares, and interacts with Your creation. You are the only God who desires a relationship, offers salvation as a gift, not something earned, and has demonstrated grace and mercy to me and to all of the world. Help me today to take command of my day and shake the evil from it.

Holy Spirit, I think sometimes I miss the significance of the arrival of Christ and how interwoven it is with all of us as Your Creation. When Mary was talking to the angel and trying to comprehend why she was chosen and how this all was going to happen, the angel said, “For with God nothing will be impossible.” [Luke 1:37 MEV] All through the Bible, I have read where the impossible was made possible because of You. I have also witnessed this a few rare times in life in my own experiences. Yet why do I have days of doubt? Help me to not only say this but believe it with all that is me. I need to know that the God I trust and put all of my life in Your hands, that the impossible for my eyes is

possible for You. I see loved ones who need salvation, and I feel there is no hope they will ever come back to You, but I must believe that You will find a way to turn their hearts. I see a community, state and country where there is seems to be little hope that life will improve, that we will learn a way to get along with out compromising who we are that Your ways will be followed and Your kingdom grow here on the earth I need to know that if I and those who follow You learn to intercede in prayer and sometimes fasting that we will witness You move and bring light back into a very dark world. I need to believe that my prayers matter to You. That I am doing Your will. I need to fully appreciate that I serve a God where the impossible is possible and that I can trust when and how that will find fruition.

Grace and peace will be multiplied to me through the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given to me all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of God who has called me to His own glory and excellence, by which He has given to me exceedingly great and precious promises, so that through

these things I might become a partaker of the divine nature and escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. For this reason, help me to make every effort to add virtue to my faith; and to my virtue, knowledge, and to my knowledge, self-control; and to my self-control, patient endurance; and to my patient endurance, godliness; and to my godliness, brotherly kindness; and to my brotherly kindness, love. For if all of these reside in me and abound, they will ensure that I will neither be useless nor unfruitful in the knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord. Help me to diligently make my calling and election sure so that when I add all these areas into my life, I will not stumble and will be able to enter into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which will be abundantly provided for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 2 Peter 1:3-11 MEV version
