I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “Please, Lord, save me!” How kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours! The Lord protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and He saved me. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? [Psalm 116:1-6; Psalms 118:6]
Holy Spirit help me to be as strong in my faith as the Psalmist who said, what can man do to me. Often, I am strong and can withstand what others think without it even affecting me, but at other times I am deeply hurt by the view of others about me. Let me focus on being what You want me to be and live up to Your standard since You can see my heart, my intentions, and even my failings. I will do my best to live peaceably with others and to demonstrate Your love, controlling my tongue with Your Spirit helping me. Help me not to cause others pain when it is within my ability to avoid it. Help me to show love even when it may not be my first desire to do so. I praise You for listening to me, desiring a relationship with me, and supporting me at all times.
I pray and ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of You, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. You have delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. You are the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by You, all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through You for You. And You are before all things, and in You, all things exist. And You are the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things You may have the preeminence. In Your blessed Son Jesus’ name, Amen. (Colossians 1:9-18)
