I Seek The Right Kind of Contentment

Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. My soul, waits silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor. Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart on them. God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work. [Psalm 62:1-12]

Holy Spirit Your word says: Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For I brought nothing into this world, and I can certainly carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these I shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. I will make sure my conduct is without covetousness; I will be content with such things as I have. For God Himself said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So I can boldly say: The Lord is my helper, I will not fear. What can man do to me? [1 Timothy 6:6-10; Hebrews 13: 5&6]

Holy Spirit my contentment fully rests on my trust in You. Help each day as I renew my mind, refresh my faith, and continually search and learn Your word, I will learn to trust in You with all my heart and not lean onto my understanding so that in all my ways I will acknowledge You so that You can continually direct my paths. [Proverbs 3:5&6]

But the Lord is faithful, and He will establish me and guard me from the evil one. And I have confidence in the Lord, both that I do and will do the things my authority commands of me. Now may the Lord direct my heart into the love of God and the patience of Christ. Now may the Lord of peace himself give me peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen [2 Thess. 3:3-5; 2 Thessalonians 3:16]
