Heavenly Father, I praise You for today and for all You have done for me. I praise You for being a God whom I fear but feel comforted by every day. I count the blessings You have bestowed in my life and feel unworthy at times to be married and to have grown adult children and grandchildren.
“For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’” [Isaiah 41:13, MEV] Fear has so many sides to it. I fear God, for that is the beginning of wisdom according to Your word. I fear failing to be the person You created me to be. I fear failure. I fear hurting people I love. I fear not being enough of a leader, a father, a principal, a grandparent, or a good person. I no longer fear death, but I still fear heights. I fear losing control or having panic attacks at the wrong time. I fear getting so depressed I just give up. I fear not being able to think forward anymore, or to be able to take care of myself and those I love. Yet, as I claim this promise, I know deep down You will be right there next to me as I face trials that seem too big for me to handle.
I pray and ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of You, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. You have delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. You are the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by You all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through You for You. And You are before all things, and in You all things exist. And You are the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things You may have the
preeminence. In Your blessed Son Jesus’ name, Amen. (Colossians 1:9-18)
