Fasting, Giving, Praying

Heavenly Father, I praise You for giving me a hunger to learn history. I thank You for teaching me the lesson from the Native Americans and then from the Bible also. One of anything can be broken but when you add 3 or more they become unbreakable. The Native Americans taught Benjamin Franklin that their 13 tribes united were the strongest united front of Native Americans. That would become the arrows in the Eagle’s claws as a representation of the 13 colonies uniting.

In Scripture, we learn that if you bind fasting, giving, and praying into Your life you will become strong in Your spiritual walk. Christ taught this and demonstrated it. He gave of himself to help others and to die for our sins. He fasted for forty days and then started the most powerful time of his ministry when he started healing and doing miracles. And, He prayed often and taught his disciples to pray.

Holy Spirit help me to understand when Christ said, “O you of little faith? Therefore, take no thought, saying, ‘What shall we eat? Or What shall we drink? Or What shall we wear?’ (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your Heavenly Father knows that you have need of all things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.” [Matthew 6:30-33]

Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit instill within me the desire, the ability, and the strength to seek Your Kingdom with all of who I am. Help me to give with what I can, to pray fervently, and to learn too fast to deepen my faith. Help me to learn as Daniel, Peter, Paul, and many others in the Bible to make fasting a regular part of my life, to make giving a regular part of my life as prayer has become a regular part of my life.

Psalms 19—The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens, He has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other nothing is hidden from its heat. The law of the Lord is perfect reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than pure gold, they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Amen.
