Faith is a Broad Term

Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your word, which can open our hearts to guidance and wisdom from You. The Hebrew writer penned, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” [Hebrew 11:1, MEV] Hope is half of what faith is; trust is the other half. I praise You today that through my life and growth in my walk, I have learned to hope bigger and to trust more confidently. I praise You for life lessons and the testimonies of my contemporaries and those recorded in Your word. You talked to Job, I have learned to ask for Your assistance in taking command of my mornings and to shake all evil from it.

My hope for eternal life, my hope for peace and joy through the day, my hope for love to be seen as fuel, and who I am each day as I begin. My trust that God is in control and that nothing can separate me from You. Help me to allow my hope to fuel my trust, which will in turn fuel my confidence and strengthen me when I face trials and tribulations in life. My faith is what keeps me moving forward, to believe beyond what man can do, and to ground me that this world is not my home or final destination. I believe eternity awaits, and it is more than playing a harp on some cloud. I seek the day when I can fully realize who I am in Christ and live fully within Your will be beyond the reaches of sin or death. Teach me to grow one spoonful of faith each step of my way so that I am filled with faith along with the living water as I use it to strengthen me to fulfill my purpose in life and to be the man You want me to be.

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish me and guard me from the evil one. And I have confidence in the Lord concerning how I am to live and fulfill my purpose in Life. Now may the Lord direct my heart into the love of God and the patience of Christ. Amen. [2 Thess. 3:3-5]
