El Elyon, The Most High God

Heavenly Father You are truly the Most High God (El Elyon). Even the non-believers can recognize You as such. The famous ruler Nebuchadnezzar once said as he was calling to the three Hebrews to come out of the furnace: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of El Elyon [the Most High God], come out and come here!” I praise You and relish in the fact that I serve El Elyon.

Holy Spirit help me to daily remember that God is El Elyon and that I am to worship, serve, and desire a relationship with Him. Help me to remember what Isaiah said that You told him, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” [Isaiah 55:8&9] Because Your thoughts are so much higher than mine I make the request that writer of Proverbs made when he wrote, “yes if you cry out for knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding. Then you will understand righteousness and judgment and equity, and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you.” [Proverb
2:3-6,9-11]

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. Overall these virtues help us to put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the
Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
