Don't Let Me Miss the Wonder Around Me

I bow in my heart before You, Oh Lord, my creator, my adopted Father, my salvation, and my Protector. I praise You for all of Your creation and how You made us in Your image and gave us the intelligence to be creative. I am so humbly aware of the price, grace, and mercy that You were willing to offer salvation to me and bring me into Your fold.

Holy Spirit I come to You and ask that You bring to my attention as often as I can to see, truly see the wonders around me. Help me to pray and seek like David when he said, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him, recount all His wonders. Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.” Or as the book of Job tells us: “He seals up the hand of every man, that all men may know His work. Then the beasts go into dens and remain in their places. Out of the south comes the whirlwind, and cold out of the north. By the breath of God frost is given, and the broad waters are frozen. Also, He loads the thick clouds with moisture; He scatters His bright clouds, and they are turned about by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them upon the face of the inhabited earth. He causes it to come, whether for correction, for His land, or mercy. Listen to this Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.” As the Hebrew writer wrote: “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?” [1 Chronicles 16:8-12; Job 37:7-14; Hebrews 2:3&4] God if I take a minute I get to see the wonder of life, creation, and Your personal touches on my world around me. I see people every day and the fact that they are all uniquely different and not produced from an assembly line is a wonder. I have witnessed the Rocky Mountains, Devil’s Tower, Forests, great lakes, the Smokey Mountains, the open land from Illinois to Oklahoma, the Ocean, and lakes in Canada that can only be accessed by planes or by walking through woods and canoeing out onto. I have seen sunrises and sunsets, I see the moon, stars, and many of the planets that are in our solar system. I have witnessed, lightning, tornadoes, strong winds, and blizzards. I have seen the beauty of deer, moose, bears, and other animals. I have walked in pastures, down two tracks, and stood in the Rifle River to feel the cold water trickle by me. I look at my wife, my children, and my grandchildren and realize what a wonder You have created with such artistry, creativity, and uniqueness. I am amazed as I age how much things change and other things do not. Help me to always be appreciative of the wonders around me, the ones that touch my life, and the wonders within me through Your Spirit.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Amen. [Romans 15:13]
