Dead to the World, Alive in Jesus

Heavenly Father I praise You for being alive in You through Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit inside of me. I praise You for all the wisdom You have given me and will give me as I need it. I praise You for allowing Your Holy Spirit to light a fire at Asbury University and the ongoing revival they are having. I praise You still doing wonders that the world can not explain.

Holy Spirit help me to adhere to what You inspired Paul to write when he said: “Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be displayed in our mortal flesh. So then, death is at work in us, but life is in you. And since we have the same spirit of faith in keeping with what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, we also believe, and therefore speak. For we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you. Indeed, everything is for your benefit so that, as grace extends through more and more people, it may cause thanksgiving to increase to the glory of God.” [2 Corinthians 4:7-15]

I must learn to die out to my desires, my wants, my thoughts to what life should be like and start living Christ. I need to show His love, His forgiveness, His wisdom, and His desires for how I should be living. I need to seek God’s heart, I need to search out what His will is for my life, daily. I need to learn, meditate and apply His word to how I live so that I am renewing my mind to be focused on how He wants me to live, act, speak, and behave. I need to put His promises and truth on my mind instead of what this world wants me to think.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. And over these virtues help us to put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
