Being the Husband You Made Me to Be

How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord of Heaven’s Armies. I long, yes I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young at a place near Your altar. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, my King and My God! What joy for those who can live in Your house, always singing Your praises. [Psa. 84:1-4 NLT]

Holy Spirit I continue to lift prayers for Neil and Linda, Trinity and my parents Phil and Janet who are either fighting Covid or cancer.  I pray for whole complete healing and wisdom for the people in charge of their care.

Holy Spirit I come to Your throne room asking for wisdom on how to be a better husband, father and grandfather.  I pray for wisdom to lead, wisdom to demonstrate humility, wisdom on applying all I have learned from Your word, wisdom on how to demonstrate love, and wisdom on how to continually present You to my family so that they will become strong in their own faith.  I pray for discernment when dealing with difficult situations, discernment when speaking so that I do not demonstrate pride of knowledge when love and humility are needed.  Help me to find balance in my life once again so that I can worship You and give my family the time they deserve also.  Help me to be an example not a hindrance to my grandchildren.

I know that I am to love my wife as You love the church.  I need wisdom and discernment to full fill this and make it applicable to my life.  Help me to learn to sacrifice all, heal, teach, and pray for my wife as You did Your early church.  Help me to lead by example and to love unconditionally, forgiving at all times.  Help me to bear the burdens of my wife and to ease her load whenever I can.

Now may the Lord direct my heart into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. [2 Thessalonians 3:5]  Let me be who You want me to be and to live as You would have me live, tempering my speech and controlling my thoughts.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
