O Lord, I will honor and praise Your name, for You are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them. You turn mighty cities into heaps of ruins. Cities with strong walls are turned to rubble. Beautiful palaces in distant lands disappear and will never be rebuilt. Therefore, strong nations will declare Your glory; ruthless nations will fear You. But You are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat. The oppressive acts of ruthless people are like a storm beating against a wall. [Isaiah 25:1-4, NLT]
Holy Spirit, God said: Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. [Jeremiah 33:3] I have learned how true this is. You helped me find a wife who completely surprises me and keeps me inspired. You helped me see the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains. I live and go to the Great Lakes; I have seen the Atlantic Ocean and swum in it. I have seen the Arch and
many other wonders like Mt. Rushmore and Devils Tower. I have seen the miracle of a baby being born when doctors told me it would not happen. I have witnessed answered prayers for people who defy the medical world. I have seen people change because of intercessor prayers and faithfulness. I have met people of esteem at pure random times. I have seen the majesty of sunsets, rainbows, tornadoes, lightning, snowstorms, frozen lakes, and many other wonders in life. I call on You daily, and You continue to open my eyes and show me wonders. Help me to teach others to have faith and to call on You.
Since I am receiving a kingdom that cannot be moved, let me be gracious, by which I may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For God, You are my consuming fire. I will perpetuate brotherly love to continue. I will not forget to entertain strangers, knowing that at times that has meant entertaining Angels unknowingly. I will remember those who have been imprisoned around the world for their faith and join with them in prayer and solidarity. I will stand with and remember those who have been abused, berated
or beaten because of being a child of God and will identify with them no matter the cost. I will honor my marriage and keep my bed undefiled. I will let God judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. I will use money, but never love it or desire it so that it never interferes with my devotion to God. I will learn to be content with what I have, for I know Your word says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So that I can always boldly proclaim, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear, what can man do to me?” I will remember those who rule over me, who have proclaimed to me the word of God. I will follow their faith, considering the results it has produced in their lives. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In Jesus’ name, I anchor my salvation, amen. [Hebrews 13:28-8, MEV and my paraphrase]
