Be in the World, but not of the World

Heavenly Father I give You praise for creating me a unique, one-of-a-kind person.  I praise You for all my fellow sojourners who also have been uniquely made so that together we make up more of who You are.  I praise You for creating us, as the only creation molded in Your image and desired by Your heart to have a relationship with.  I praise You for the fact that Christ left heaven and came to earth in the vessel of a human being to grow and learn and experience all that we experienced but lived without sin so that he could be the sacrifice on the cross to bear all our sins.  In His resurrection we now have the hope of eternal life only dependent upon the acceptance of Your salvation and living our life daily with You as our King.  We depend upon Your wisdom.

Holy Spirit help me to learn to be like Paul and go into the world and serve alongside all people, without becoming like all people.  Help me to live in the world, but not be of the world.  Just like the fish who live in the ocean, do not have salt in their meat even though they live in salt water.  Help me to be the living sacrifice for You each day so that I can be the example that will open the hearts of others to listening to Your Holy Spirit.  Help me to live in a way that people will see my joy and steadfastness and desire what I have, which is my hope in You.

Holy Spirit move my heart to learn wisdom in how to love others, how to live in front of others and how to be the example that creates a hunger in others to know You.  Lead my steps, my words, and my actions to demonstrate and reflect You in my life so others see You through me.  Help me to be the Bible that people read until they come to know You.  Let me sacrifice my desires, my plans, my affections so that I can learn Your desires, plans and affections.  Help me to each day take one more step to being more like You and to getting to my real home and goal.

Help me to live my life as it was written in the book of John 4:23-24—Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 6:63—It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life. John 13:34&35—A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.  John 14:12-14—“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. Teach me to absorb these words from Christ and own them in my heart and apply them in my thinking so that I reflect them in my daily living for Your glory.  Amen.
