You Dwell Within Us

“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You have created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so these people will know that You, O Lord, are God and that You are turning their hearts back again. Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain! [Revelations 4:11; 1 Kings 18:37; 1 Chronicles 4:9&10]

Holy Spirit I come before You and request healing for Pastor Jim who is going to have brain surgery on April 6th to remove a tumor. I ask that You help him to heal completely, that You give the surgeon wisdom, and most of all that You be glorified.

Holy Spirit we learn in Your word that when Christ was dying on the cross: “it was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour, while the sun was darkened. And the veil of the temple was torn in the middle. And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” Having said this, He gave up the Spirit. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth.” And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. [Luke 23:45&46; John 4:23-24; John 14:16-17 NKJV; 1Corinthians 3:16&17; 1 Corinthians 6:19&20]

I understand daily as I seek Your Holy Spirit that I no longer need to seek a temple or a city to find You. I can simply believe and pray to you. I also know that Your word says: Let us not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but let us exhort one another, especially as you see the Day approaching. I will do my best to honor and constantly be aware of Your Spirit indwelling within me. I will also remember my responsibilities to my brothers and sisters to attend church and participate with them in worship, in listening to Your words, and to study with them and testify of You to them. Help me to be the living temple You desire. Let me be so fiercely focused in love and mind on You that as part of Your church hell’s gates will not prevail against me and the rest of my family.

Therefore, let me not sleep as others do. But let me be alert and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But let me, who is of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not appointed me to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for me, so that whether I am awake or asleep, I will live together with Him. So, I will comfort myself, and edify my brothers and sisters. I will acknowledge those who labor around me, and/or are appointed over me in the Lord, and instruct me. I will esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among the members of the body of Christ. I have been exhorted, to warn those who are unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, and be patient toward everyone. I will not render evil for evil to anyone. But always seek to do good to others. I will rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning me. I will not quench the Spirit. Nor will I despise prophecies. I will examine all things. Firmly hold onto what is good. Abstain from all appearances of evil. May the very God of peace sanctify me completely. And I pray to God that my whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. For I know that faithful is He who calls me, for He also will do it. Amen. 1 Thessalonians 5:6-24
