Worshiping You With All that I Am

Shout for joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Your deeds! So great is Your power that Your enemies cringe before You. All the earth bows down to You; they sing praise to You, they sing the praises of Your name.” Come and see what God has done, His awesome deeds for mankind! He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot—come, let us rejoice in Him. He rules forever by His power, His eyes watch the nations—let not the rebellious rise up against Him. Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of His praise be heard. Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue. The Lord will not hear me if I regard iniquity in my heart. But certainly, God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayers. Blessed be God, who has not turned away from my prayer, nor His mercy from me! O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. [Psalm 66:1-8, 16-20; Psalms 68:35]

Holy Spirit I understand that worship is much more than just singing songs at church on Sundays. I know that to truly worship You, we must do all we can to communicate our praise, dedication, and meditation to You with all that we are and all that we can do. Christ told the Samaritan at the well: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and the truth. [John 4:23&24] Paul told us: offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this will be our true and proper worship. [Romans 12:1] So each day I walk this earth I will dedicate and give my life completely to the will of God so that I can show true worship. I will pray, meditate on His word, and do the will of God instead of just knowing the will of God. I will do my best to love my neighbor, be responsible for my actions, obey the laws of my society that do not violate God’s laws, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit or teach the people in prison, and give all of God’s creation made in His image respect and demonstrate Christ’s love, grace and mercy when it is within my power to do so. I will not put myself over others as far as status. I will be a worker worthy of his employment. These I will do to worship the God who desires a relationship with me and provides a home for me after my time here is done.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help us bear with each other and forgive our grievances against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. Overall all these virtues help us to put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
