What I long to See

Heavenly Father I praise You for Your Word which encourages my heart. I praise You for listening to me and for desiring a relationship with me. I praise You for days that are hard and for days that are good.

Holy Spirit Your word says: “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers. Fear came to every soul. And many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common.” [Acts 2:42-44] I come before Your throne each morning, noon, and night seeking to witness and for many of the young Christians in high school and college to also see that You still do wonders and signs. Open their eyes to what You are doing and to see who You are and that even in this broken world You reign. Help them and me to learn what it means for Your kingdom to come here on the earth.

Holy Spirit I seek to be the living sacrifice that Paul talks about. I seek to be dedicated to prayer as Daniel was. I seek to have a different spirit like Caleb. I seek to take on giants without fear like David. I seek to stand before anyone and speak with truth and boldness as Peter, Philip, Paul, and John did. I seek to be wise and to lead as James did. I seek to serve even at the cost of my life like Steven. Most of all, I seek to live, love, and serve as Jesus did here on earth. I seek to build Your kingdom so that this world has light in all the darkness, fear, and death that plagues this world. Most of all I seek the day when I hear You say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” That is what I seek, believe, and strive towards.

The end of all things is near. Therefore, be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that God may be praised through Jesus Christ in all things. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:7-11
