Trying to Mature in Wisdom

Heavenly Father I praise You for watching over me and for creating me and all of creation. I praise You for having a purpose and hope in life so that I have meaning to what I am and what I do. I praise You for the wonders You have let me witness in my life and for allowing me to learn under many wise Christians.

Holy Spirit help me to learn and understand, “The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness. But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance.” Also, help me to follow Peter’s advice in growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ. I need to also guard my mind, be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to me at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As an obedient child, I will not conduct myself by my former lusts that I had in ignorance. I will learn to be Holy as Christ is Holy for His holiness makes me holy as long as I live within Your will. [2 Peter 3:9; 3:18; 1 Peter 1:13-16]

Holy Spirit help me to be a living sacrifice daily so that I can keep this living temple clean and ready for Your presence to continue to dwell within me. Help me to renew my mind with scripture, wisdom from Your Spirit and other Christians, and help me to control my tongue, learn to have self-control, and focus on whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. [Philippians 4:8]

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help us bear with each other and forgive our grievances against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. These virtues help us put on love, which binds them together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
