Heavenly Father I praise You for the honesty and truth of the Bible. Unlike some famous people have said, You warned us that life would not always be nice or easy. I praise You for the blessings You have given me even though they are not of monetary value to this world. I praise You for a wife who has walked with me through cancer twice, the loss of children, hard times financially, and good times too for over 31 years. I praise You for each of my children and all that they have brought into my life over the years. I praise You for my grandchildren and the new challenges and love they bring. I praise You for my son-in-law for becoming part of the family.
Holy Spirit I have learned the truth of Jesus’s words that are recorded in John 16 that I will weep and lament at times while the world rejoices in its sin but I am to remember that Christ has overcome the world and through Him so have I. Here on the earth I have and will continue to face trials and hard times. I will still face temptation and sometimes I will make mistakes. I also know that if I remain faithful to God, He will remain faithful to me. I also know that You, the Holy Spirit, was sent not only to bring me comfort, but to help me to gain wisdom and to grow in all truth. You help me to say what needs to be said at the right time as long as I pay attention to Your voice.
Heavenly Father help me to continue to work through my grief over losing my son. Help me to continue to work through finding out I have cancer for a second time eighteen years after the first. Help us to work through each trial we face in life and help me to love my family one day at a time and enjoy all the blessing You have given me in life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
