The Lord Loves the Lowly

Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because You are faithful and righteous. Don’t put your servant on trial, for no one is innocent before you. My enemy has chased me. He has knocked me to the ground and forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave. I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done. I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for as parched land thirsts for rain. Come quickly, Lord, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of Your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting You. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to You. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord; I run to you to hide me. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. For the glory of Your name, O Lord, preserve my life. Because of Your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress. In Your unfailing love, silence all my enemies and destroy all my foes, for I am Your servant. [Psalm 143, NLT]

Holy Spirit I am very low in spirit today and need to draw close to You. I need to have truth and faith to stand me through this time in my life. I desire to live life as You desire me to live. I want to live a life where I do not cause anyone pain, live as peacefully as I can and demonstrate Christ in all that I do and say. Help me to find joy in the beauty of the simplicity of life as intricate as it may be. Help me to enjoy the laughter of my grandchildren, and the joy of those who find accomplishment in my class. Give me strength and peace of mind to face whatever comes my way today and the days to come.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen. (2Corinthians 1:3-7)
