Starting with the Heart

Heavenly Father, You said, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.” Paul told us that we are Yours when he wrote, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.” [2 Chronicles 7:13-15; Romans 8:16&17]

Holy Spirit, I am learning that revival, true revival starts in our hearts. Change, true change can only start with me and my brothers and sisters. I also understand that there are many prayers in the Bible to learn from such as, “Oh, that You would indeed bless me and enlarge my territory, that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that it may not bring me hardship! So, God granted what he asked.” [1 Chronicles 4:10]

Help me to pray, let Your Spirit lead me and show me what my heart needs to plead before You. Help me to be humble, honest, and wise. Let me be uplifting and not cause pain to others. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and redeemer. [Psalm 19:14] Now may the Lord direct my heart into Your love God, and into the patience of Christ. In the name of Jesus’ my Savior, Amen. [Thessalonians 3:5]
