Sometimes I Need To Listen to Solomon

Heavenly Father, I praise You that Your Holy Spirit inspired men to write down Your word and wisdom, which has become our Bible. I praise You for creating us above the other creatures of this world, and that we can think, process, learn, and understand. I praise You for teaching us how to renew our minds and asking us to keep them focused on You. Help me today to take command of my morning with the help of the Holy Spirit so that I can shake the evil from it and walk my path in righteousness.

Holy Spirit, help me to glean wisdom from the words of Solomon when he wrote, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver or gold. The rich and the poor have this in common: The Lord is the maker of them all. A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished. Humility and the fear of the Lord are the riches and honor and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; He who guards his soul will be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” [Proverbs 22:1-6] Help me to keep my name with integrity and live knowing that You are the maker of us all and that all of us will bend our knees and be judged someday. Let me walk the path my parents taught me to walk and honor my spiritual heritage. Help me to train my grandchildren in the righteous path of salvation. So that one day they can stand properly equipped to face this evil and sinful world.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Holy Spirit, help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. And over all these virtues help us to put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
