Serving is Not a Job But a Commitment

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the opportunity to I had to ride through the Upper Peninsula Saturday and Sunday with my wife. I praise You for being able to get my sister-in-law moved to Bessemer. I praise You for all the beautiful trees, nature, and the sunshine. I praise You for the safety of getting over the bridge with no bad weather.

Holy Spirit help me to remember that serving You is a life experience of dedication not another job. Help me to control my attitude because I do not live or work for people I do this for You. Help me to: “Do my best to present myself to You as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoiding godless, chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.”

Holy Spirit I praise the pastors who realize that being a preacher is not a job but a calling. That step up to the plate and lead, feed, pray, and take care of their sheep. I praise You for the pastors who will make the sacrifice to be at hospitals, funeral homes, and other places when their

people need them to be with them. I pray for strength and understanding for these pastor’s families, knowing that the whole family is invested in the ministry and success of the parent who is a pastor.

Holy Spirit check my attitude at work and help me to be an example to my family on how I should conduct myself under the authority You have allowed to be over me. Help me to trust in You for who You allow to be placed over me and help me to trust in You to know whether I am working at the right place for this season of my life. Let me live a life that is a testimony to how great You are and that You are working in my life. Change my focus so that I work with a zeal for you not necessarily my employer. Help me to be a very hard and passionate worker who does their best every day.

But you, man [or woman] of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. 1Timothy 6:11-16
